Trump Donated To Vets Only After He Was Asked About The Money
“I of course over the course of my life, I’ve not only donated personally, but I have worked to provide hundreds of millions of dollars over time to help our veterans by what I voted for, what I’ve worked for”.

Trump said the news coverage of his veterans group donations had been close to libelous.
“His greatest claim to fame is telling people ‘you’re fired, ‘ Clark said, referring to Trump’s time on the reality TV show “The Apprentice”. “Some of it went out more recently”.
“The press should be ashamed at themselves”, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee said at the news conference, calling the media “extremely dishonest” and singling out one ABC News reporter as “a sleaze”. “Look, I’m glad he finally did, but I don’t know that he should get much credit for that”. Preston soon added that “Trump deciding to take on the media at this point because he doesn’t feel like they are treating him well is actually not a very good strategy – to the point the question was asked to him…do you have a thick enough skin to run for president?” “I have never received such bad publicity for doing such a good job”. Of those, about half said they’d received checks from Trump “just last week”.
“Not until Trump called me on Tuesday afternoon to say he’d just given the whole million at once”, did Fahrenthold find out the money had still not been donated, he said in a Washington Post account of the story. Months later, after much poking and prodding by the media, that million figure was rectified in mid-May to .5 million by Corey Lewandowski, Trump’s campaign manager. Trump eased up on the criticism, made peace with Megyn Kelly and said the media were treating him relatively fairly.
“It is obviously a wonderful donation”, said Sue Boulhosa, the group’s executive director and sole employee.
But his campaign refused for months to disclose which charities had received the money, leading some news organizations and critics to speculate that the money raised was less than he had claimed. Unlike Trump, she rarely holds news conferences.
Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton sought to take advantage of Trump’s discomfort over the media scrutiny he has faced.
“Mr. Trump’s team worked very hard to complete this lengthy process prior to Memorial Day Weekend”, she said. The money arrived in the form of a check from the Donald J. Trump Foundation.
He says he raised $5.6 million for 41 organizations. We’re stunned at Trump’s nearly maniacal lashing out at anybody and everybody who challenges him. I wanted to keep it private.
The tweet was part of a series of posts and retweets of missives from prominent Republicans – including Trump’s former 2016 rivals – by Clinton and her campaign staff on Wednesday, hitting Trump for his record with Trump University. The Mulberry Street Veterans Shelter was incorrectly named in the original list and now appears with its correct name, Central Iowa Shelter and Services, and a $100,000 donation. “They actually served the country”, O’Brien continued, saying Trump “only seems interested in serving himself”.
