Surprise Surprise and Blind Date star Cilla Black has died aged 72, it was announced today.

She had eleven top ten hits including 1964 Number One singles “Anyone Who Had a Heart” and “You’re My World“.

In the early 1960s she got a part-time job as a cloakroom attendant at the famous Cavern Club in Liverpool where the Beatles regularly played.

Christopher Biggins has paid tribute to Cilla Black, calling his friend “a national treasure”.

Sir Bruce, 87, said: “Bobby will be there to meet her, she never really got over Bobby her husband leaving when he did”. She was a wonderful friend. She was a lovely girl who infected everyone with her great spirit.

New names, though I can’t possibly say who suggested them, included Cilla Black – “so grand she doesn’t even like sharing her auto with her chauffeur” – and Christina Aguilera – “jumped-up little madam”.

She added: “I needn’t have anxious because Sheridan is absolutely terrific”.

“She will always be with me”.

Singer Sir Cliff Richard said he will miss his “outrageous” friend dearly.

He said: “Some people will always be with us and Cilla is one of those people”. I thought she was well.

“It is not only her family and close friends who will miss her, but people will miss her right across Britain. God bless her”. She was Liverpool’s Cinderella, and she did go to the ball.

“She always felt like a friend in your living room when she was on TV”.

Her publicist Nick Fiveash said in a brief statement: “It is with deep sorrow that I confirm today the passing of singer and TV personality Cilla Black“.

And the official Twitter account of ITV show Loose women tweeted a tribute saying: “We’re deeply saddened by the news that our friend, the fabulous Cilla Black has passed away at the age of 72″. “She’s like my sister”, he told the Liverpool Echo.

O’Grady says the only noticeable sign of illness was her hearing.

“When I reached #1 in the charts with “You’re My World“, it made me the second British girl to ever have two successive #1 hits”.

Tweeters described Cilla as a huge part of their childhoods. “The sky is far less bright without you Tara Chuck x”, he wrote. “Sending all my love to her family. X”.
