Wisconsin Democratic Party Chairwoman Martha Laning says Donald Trump is a “loose cannon” who doesn’t have the temperament necessary to serve as president.

Feingold, who is in a rematch against Republican Sen. Ron Johnson, also is among the most-anticipated speakers on the convention’s opening night. “I think we really have to re-evaluate it, I’ve never liked it. I’ve always preferred a system that’s based on pure voting and delegations that come from the majority votes or however they want to split up the votes so I think it’s very appropriate that Wisconsin is taking a look at this”, said Feingold.

Labor and civil rights leader Tom Perez will be the special keynote speaker at the Convention.

Senate candidate Russ Feingold is among those slated to speak on Friday.

The resolution that passed Saturday is not binding, meaning national Democrats are not required to take Wisconsin’s position into account at the convention in July.

The Wisconsin Democratic Convention starts Friday with a Democratic Unity Fair.

In a sign that party officials may be skittish about that dynamic, the website wispolitics.com reported Thursday that Wisconsin Democrats are banning the site from buying a table at the convention to conduct a straw poll of Democratic delegates – which it has done regularly at conventions of both parties for 16 years.

Sanders’ supporters in Wisconsin hope to pressure the state’s super delegates to switch their allegiance from Clinton to the Vermont senator.

Saturday’s vote is a win for Bernie Sanders supporters, who see the nominating process as one designed for Hillary Clinton to win. Super-delegates are not bound by the results of states primaries or caucuses as most delegates are, leading critics to say they do not reflect the will of voters. Wisconsin’s three other superdelegates have not said who they support.

She says they’ll also focus on the races for U.S. Senate, and the Eighth Congressional District.

“Russ is going to be the star of the convention”, Pocan said Friday morning. He said Feingold was running a “desperate campaign to return to Washington” while Clinton represents the “Washington status quo”. Tammy Baldwin, U.S. Reps.

Others scheduled to talk on Friday include congressmen Mark Pocan and Ron Kind and Sen. That seat is open in this election because the incumbent, Republican Reid Ribble, is not seeking re-election.
