Roy Keane believes Jose Mourinho is the right man for the Manchester United job despite harbouring doubts on a personal level about the former Chelsea manager.
The 18-year-old’s previous deal was due to expire at the end of the 2016-17 season, but the young striker has been rewarded for his fine performances this campaign with a new and improved contract.
‘For months we were all reading that Mourinho was busy with Manchester United.
Keane’s comments might stem from the time Mourinho tried to shake both Lambert and Keane’s hand before the final whistle during a tie between Chelsea and Aston Villa in 2014 as “digraceful”.
The ex-Inter Milan and Real Madrid manager won three Premier League titles, three League Cups and the FA Cup during two spells at Chelsea before he was sacked in December.
“I’m not a Manchester United fan but I don’t think anyone can say they aren’t licking their lips at the prospect of Mourinho, Guardiola, Klopp, Conte and Wenger all going up against each other next season”.
During their time together at Chelsea, Mourinho masterminded and Terry headed one of the most formidable defences in English football winning three Premier League titles, three League Cups and an FA Cup.
United, Manchester City and Chelsea will have new managers for the next season after Mourinho’s appointment.
“I don’t know. I haven’t spoken to him much”.
“Hopefully very well. His track record speaks for itself and I think he’s a good fit for the club”, Carrick said.
“Jose is quite simply the best manager in the game today”, said United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward when he welcomed the Portuguese manager to Old Trafford.

“He could certainly handle a club like that, that’s what he’s about”, Lampard concluded.
