Conforto’s RBI in 8th helps Mets rally past Marlins 6-4
The current Mets are a combined 3-for-13 against him with one walk and two strikeouts. Conforto then finally showed signs of breaking out of a deep slump.

Down at Marlins Park on Saturday, the New York Mets and the Miami Marlins will be picking up their series once again. While free passes have been an issue, home runs have not for Koehler, who has only been taken deep on three occasions in 10 starts (54 innings) as opposed to 22 times in 32 appearances (187 1/3 innings) a year ago. Christian Yelich had an RBI double to plate the winning run in a 4-3 victory in 12 innings on Thursday and went 5-for-12 with two runs scored as Miami took two of three from NY on April 11-13.
Matt Reynolds (15) follows through on an RBI-single to score Michael Conforto during the eighth inning.
Manager Terry Collins said the Mets have discussed giving Conforto a few days off to buy him some time to work through his hitting woes, though they ultimately decided against it. 7-8 batters James Loney and Rene Rivera belted two-run shots in New York’s 6-2 triumph on Friday. In the bottom of the sixth, Ozuna hit a fly ball to left, but Martin Prado was able to score, so off the sacrifice fly, the Marlins had tied the game at 2. That tied the score at 2.
“Pretty much the consensus of the staff is, ‘Look, we’ve got to push this kid through this, ‘” Collins said. Only a tremendous diving catch by Lagares saved the Mets from falling further behind. After Jerry Blevins replaced Robles, pinch hitter Ichiro Suzuki sent a liner to left-center.
Syndergaard gets that opportunity Friday night against a team he dominated earlier this season when the Mets visit the Miami Marlins, who are seeking their fifth win in the last six games of this NL East series.
Yikes: Kevin Plawecki had a game he would like to forget. The Mets plan to use Wilmer Flores at third base.
As for the Marlins, we’ll be seeing lefty Justin Nicolino take the mound on Saturday.
Conforto was scheduled to have Saturday off, as the Mets are facing left-hander Justin Nicolino. Later in the game, Plawecki twice batted with two runners on base and one out and was retired; he popped out in foul territory in the fourth and struck out in the sixth.
The 23-year-old Mets slugger enjoyed a scorching April, batting.365 with four homers and 18 RBI while being elevated to the three-hole in the lineup.

“That’s huge, especially with Duda and the unfortunate news about David today”, said Noah Syndergaard, who earned the win after allowing two runs in seven innings. His ERA dipped to 3.27 in a no-decision.
