Jerry West defends LeBron James against Finals record critics

Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James routinely finds himself playing in June, and NBA legend Jerry West believes that criticism of his less-than-spectacular NBA Finals record is unjust.

On his Twitter account, Brandon Jennings predicted that LeBron James will be leaving the Cavaliers after their Game 1 loss against the Golden State Warriors. West is right to defend him, but coming back to beat the Warriors would also help silence James’ many critics. “I listed all the guys that got drafted ahead of him that weren’t even in the league anymore”, Bielema said.

It’s not just a showdown between the NBA’s two best teams, but also between (arguably, of course) the two best players of the current generation: LeBron James and Steph Curry. Barbosa returned from a minor back injury to shoot 5 for 5 on the way to 11 points, while 2015 finals MVP Iguodala had 12 points, seven rebounds, six assists and some stingy defense on James.

“You don’t win championships without the entire squad coming in and making an impact on games”, Curry said. “Frankly, I wish people would leave him alone”. And the fact we won the championship a year ago, and last team standing obviously is what was most important to me. “They make you stagnant and make you play one-on-one basketball because that’s all you can get”.

It isn’t often you get a cross-sport analogy but Bielema said his team knows and loves basketball so he referenced the two biggest names in the sport who are battling in the NBA Finals. It’s pretty unique to be in this position and just to have another opportunity, another opportunity for guys to write about it, for us to play it, for the people to talk about it throughout the world.

“I think it bothers me in the fact that’s how competitive I am”, James said. Kyrie Irving, lost to a devastating knee injury in a Game 1 overtime defeat previous year, scored 26 points, 11 on free throws.

When you return to Cleveland there is the idea of obviously trying to bring a championship to Cleveland to the Cavaliers. “So, I mean, the casual fan might relate better to Steph because he doesn’t have that athletic, just God-given ability”.

James and Curry made clear their preference is to focus on the game.

Many pundits believe Curry is the best player alive, while many others believe that LeBron owns that distinction.
