New Mexico beats Dallas Baptist 12-6 in Lubbock Regional
Both of these teams are hoping that they can put themselves just one win away from advancing in their regional with a win on Saturday night. At the plate every Red Raider batter in the starting lineup registered at least one hit with lead off man Stephen Smith who was 3-3 on the day leading the way. New Mexico’s Colton Thompson picked up the win, cruising through before getting touched for four runs in the bottom of the sixth.

The scoring started as the Red Raiders got out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning after a Tanner Gardner RBI single.
Former Rocky Mountain High School pitcher Tyler Stevens delivers a pitch for New Mexico on Saturday against Texas Tech in the NCAA tournament in Lubbock, Texas.
The Stags will now enter the loser’s bracket and play the loser of second-seeded Dallas Baptist and third-seeded New Mexico tomorrow at 3pm EST on ESPN3. New Mexico (40-21) took the lead in the fourth when Luis Gonzalez doubled and then came around to score on a pair of wild pitches. The Red Raiders were able to load the bases with two outs. Leadoff hitter Drew Arciuolo, an incoming DiamondDawg for 2016, had a hit and a walk.
Making matters worse alongside Ulvydas’ decision to transfer, Texas Tech also lost head coach Tubby Smith this offseason. The victor will then immediately turn around and play Texas Tech at 6pm in the Regional Championship Game.
