Google Now On Tap Adds Specific Text Areas, Photos & Camera
The Image Search feature will provide cards with information on the images displayed on the screen. Given that the feature is exclusive to the latest Android OS, it might take a while before the “Now on Tap” feature becomes relatively mainstream.

You can already upload a photo Google Search to find similar images, but Now on Tap now literally lets you replace search terms with an image.
With the latest update which is coming very soon, Google will add the ability select the exact word or phrase for which you want more info and even get info about images or photos.
“For example, if you’re reading a news article you can select a specific word, like crustacean, and get a definition and links to relevant apps”, writes Aneto Okonkwo, product manager at Google Search.
If you’re looking at images, you can now use Now on Tap to run image searches for more information.
After announcing the “Early Access” feature for beta applications on the Play Store last month, Google now offers Android users the opportunity to join the beta testing program for early releases of its Maps app on Android.
Google is rolling out the feature today, but word definitions are only limited to the English language for now.
This new feature of Now on Tap is one that brings in enormous new functionality, improving the entire experience and making it far more useful.
But it also comes with an easy way of listening to and deleting all of the information that it collects.
While Now on Tap was meant to help users find relevant information without requiring them to leave the current screen, it often wasn’t able to find the right information on a screen with lots of text. Just open the camera app and hold the home button while you’re focused on an object, and Now on Tap will see what it can find.

The tool will work on Apple’s iPhone, as well as devices running on Google’s Android software.
