Roy Keane believes Jose Mourinho is the right man for the Manchester United job despite harbouring doubts on a personal level about the former Chelsea manager. “And giant clubs must be for the best managers and I think I am ready for it, so I could say I am happy, I am proud, I am honoured”.

“Mourinho is a really good coach, but that’s as far as I would go really”, United great Bobby Charlton, who is also a director and ambassador at the club, said in 2012.
The Portuguese was aggrieved he was overlooked for the United job when Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013. David Moyes, Ferguson’s hand-picked successor, lasted 10 months and Louis van Gaal was sacked on Monday after an underwhelming two years in charge. Keane had unsuccessful spells in the dugout at Sunderland and Aston Villa, where he clashed with Mourinho on the touchline at the latter club.
“We can look at our club now into two perspectives: one perspective is the past three years and another perspective is the club history”, he said.

The 53-year-old is regarded by a number of players and other football stakeholders as one of the most successful managers in the world. (The fans) know what they can give me and what I can give them. Among them could be the out-of-contract Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, a signing Keane would be in favour of.

Manchester United will unveil Mourinho to the media on July 7, but he’s already hard at work preparing himself and the club for his arrival.
