Corbin, Diamondbacks end Arrieta’s win streak, beat Cubs 3-2
Thanks to the Cubs’ 3-2 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks, the reigning National League Cy Young Award victor suffered his first loss since July 25, 2015, per Bob Nightengale of USA Today. Patrick Corbin out-dueled Arrieta to earn the victory for the Diamondbacks.

Coming Next: The Cubs went 8-2 on the homestand, and they now head out on their first East Coast trip of the season Monday.
Corey Seager hit three solo homers, the second driving in the go-ahead run in the sixth inning, for Los Angeles.
Orioles 3, Yankees 1: Matt Wieters followed a lengthy rain delay with a tiebreaking two-run, pinch-hit single in the eighth inning, and Baltimore rallied past NY.
He got all nine of his strikeouts on pitches in the lower half, with one walk and three hits, in 6 2/3 shutout innings.
ASTROS 6, ATHLETICS 5: At Houston, Carlos Correa had three hits and his RBI single with one out in the 12th inning gave Houston a victory over Oakland. This start, then, shouldn’t dimish Arrieta (who still has a 1.80 ERA on the season) in our eyes at all, but it will serve as a good reminder that baseball is weird, and that even the best pitchers will have days when they need some serious offensive help from time to time. It’s going to be tough.
Pedro Strop pitched a flawless eighth, and Justin Grimm worked the ninth.
Nationals 10, Reds 9: Daniel Murphy homered and drove in three runs, and Wilson Ramos also went deep for Washington, which overcame an early five-run deficit and then almost squandered a five-run cushion themselves.
“I’ve seen some pretty good starting pitching, but this is really, really good”, manager Joe Maddon said. When Goldschmidt was awarded first, Cahill threw his arms up in disgust and Maddon came out to argue.
He ended up pitching five innings, striking out 12 but throwing 108 pitches.
Outfielder David Peralta (right wrist inflammation) remains on course to return from the 15-day disabled list on Monday.
Cubs: Chicago got a scare in the first inning when Jorge Soler crumpled to the ground after being hit in the right foot by a pitch. “It’s a totally different ballgame when you get up here and now you’re trying to game plan for an opposing team”. He stayed down for a few minutes while being tended to but remained in the game.

Anthony Rizzo drove in the game’s first run with a two-out double in the sixth off Archie Bradley (2-1) that center fielder Chris Owings misjudged. Arrieta and the Cubs look to start a new streak and add to the best overall record in the majors as well as their league-best 22-7 home mark. The right-hander dropped his ERA to 2.88 to join the other four Cubs starters with ERAs below 3.00.
