A Skydive Carolina spokesman wrote an email statement in response to inquiries from the media about the death of their skydiver, Bond Springer, wherein they expressed sadness regarding the man’s death.
The other skydiver landed with a broken leg, and was taken to a local hospital.
Sheriff’s deputies are investigating after crews found the body of a skydiver Sunday morning in Chester County. “The second skydiver was reported missing and search parties were deployed to locate the individual”. It’s estimated that he fell about 14,000 feet, according to WBTV, the Observer’s news partner.
Following the collision, it is unclear if Springer made an attempt or if he was even able to attempt to deploy his parachute. They were both wearing wing suits, which are jumpsuits with specialized fabric webbing under the arms and between the legs.
“We did search the area as thoroughly as we could but because of the storms and severe weather and dense underbrush we needed a dog team in there”, said Ed Darby, who is the deputy director of Chester County Emergency Management.
