The training staff briefly checked on Love, he exhibited no signs or symptoms of a concussion originally, according to TV reports, and the Cavs determined he was fit to stay in the game.

Love was elbowed in the back of the head in the second quarter of Game 2 of the NBA Finals. Game Four is Friday night in Cleveland, as well.

“At halftime he showed no symptoms”, coach Tyronn Lue said.

“We’ve got to be tougher”, Lue said. Love’s status for Game Three is uncertain.

Love is in the league’s concussion protocol and the Cavs are on life support following another 110-77 blitzing Sunday at the hands of the Warriors at Oracle Arena.

The Warriors now lead the NBA Finals 2-0.

In 21 minutes of play in Game 2, Love made just two of his seven shots and just one of his four three-pointers on the way to a five-point performance.

The NBA’s concussion policy stipulates that Love will not be allowed to return to participation on Monday – though the Cavs reportedly won’t be doing much besides flying back to Cleveland – and that “his physical and cognitive exertion [should be] limited as much as possible”. Richard Jefferson came off the bench to score 12 points for Cleveland.

“K-Lo has worked hard all year and for that to happen, we all checked on him after the game and I hope he’s alright”, Thompson said. Having finished the first half on a 7-0 run, it looked like Cleveland might turn things around.
