Bulk SMS and mobile internet services have been suspended in Sonipat and Rohtak districts till further notice.

Around 2,000 Jats gathered at Jasia village, along NH-71A, despite the district administration’s refusal to grant permission to protest there.

Paramilitary forces and the state police are maintaining a close vigil on national highways and railway tracks, which the protesters had blocked for several days during the earlier agitation.

Haryana Additional Chief Secretary, Home, Ram Niwas said that 55 companies of para-military force have been stationed to deal with the agitation.

“This ban would be effective till further orders”, a state government spokesman said here on Saturday.

Thirty people were killed and properties worth hundreds of crores of rupees were destroyed during the February quota agitation by Jats. Protesters had disrupted water supply to the national capital by damaging a channel of Munak Canal during the stir.

Mmbers of Jat community have begun to assemble in Rohtak, for their protest demanding reservation as Haryana braces for second round of possible violent agitation.

A section of Jat community leaders have renewed their call for agitation for reservation and almost nine districts of Haryana have been put on high alert on 5th June.

The All India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS) has given the call to renew the agitation after the Punjab and Haryana High Court stayed the notification for quotas to the Jat and other communities.

The protestors have confirmed that they will not block highway or railway lines and will stay away from the cities.

The AIJASS Hisar district president Rambhagat Malik said, “We are committed to holding dharnas in a peaceful manner”.

All telecom service providers have been directed to strictly abide by these orders.

In view of the renewed agitation launched by certain sections of the Jat community in Haryana, Delhi Police on Sunday made a decision to impose prohibitory orders in sensitive areas bordering Haryana as a precautionary measure.

Prominent Jat leaders Hawa Singh Sangwan and NafeSingh Nain have announced that they will not participate in the fresh protest.
