Kevin Love, Klay Thompson played Little League together

The Golden State Warriors’ sharpshooting backcourt of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson were uncharacteristically cold from the field in Thursday night’s Game 1 Finals victory (combined 8-of-27). He joined the team in 1987 and promptly won two titles.

Here’s the thing, though: Klay Thompson’s dad is Mychal Thompson, who was a member of the Showtime Lakers.

The Warriors had been asked to consider if they were one of the best teams of all-time, and Thompson couldn’t resist interjecting with a playful jab at his father, Mychal, who won two National Basketball Association championships playing for Los Angeles. Green answered before posing other hypotheticals that are hard to answer.

“I just think it’s easy to fall in love with our offense”, Thompson said.

“The way they’re guarding us, Draymond is open a lot”, Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. “And I don’t really look at, ‘Are you the best team of all time, are we the best team of all time?’ Because I think it’s all subjective”, he said. “No, we’ve got two more wins before you can even consider saying that”. Green continued. “We can never play them”.

One of Bogut’s blocks led to a Curry 3-pointer on the other end of the floor as the Warriors took their first lead of the game at 11-10.

The Warriors guard was feeling himself and his team after taking a 2-0 lead in the NBA Finals in a big way Sunday.

Asked about the shot selection from Game 1 of his star players, Kerr reiterated there’s no shot he doesn’t like when Curry and Thompson are shooting. “It’s a trap to think that we’ve figured things out and that we have the ideal formula to beat Cleveland and they have no chance in the series”.
