Mobile’s Legere Plays Santa: Giving Stock, Pizza & More To Subscribers
There is no fee to obtain or sell your share this year and no fee to maintain your account as long as you remain an active customer. T-Mobile CMO Andrew Sherrard said while the company pays for some of the perks, “there are partners that really want to bring people in”.

Of the programs announced today (June 6), T-Mobile’s Stock Up program is likely to get the most attention. Un-carrier 11 is about T-Mobile showing its loyalty to customers-not the other way around. The giveaway will not be dilutive to any existing shareholders, and has been accounted for in the company’s guidance for the year, T-Mobile said.
That impressive history created big expectations for June 6’s Un-carrier 11 and T-Mobile CEO John Legere did not disappoint, offering three new giveaways.
“I’m turning customers into owners”, Legere said. “Why should Wall Street be the only ones to benefit [from our company’s success]?” “At T-Mobile, we already wake up every day working for our customers-so I’ve decided to make it official and turn T-Mobile customers into T-Mobile owners by offering them stock”.
T-Mobile’s announcements follow an appreciation program launched by AT&T last week called AT&T Thanks. While one share will be initially offered to those who download the app, each customer will be able to get up to 100 shares per year in exchange for referrals. T-Mobile has been holding the events for more than a year to announce new features and perks, often created to get customers to leave their current carrier and join T-Mobile.
According to T-Mobile, there are no fees for selling or transferring your share within the first year of owning it. T-Mobile will cover associated fees in that time.
T-Mobile has been gaining customers faster than ever, adding 2.2 million customers during the first quarter.
A T-Mobile spokesman confirmed the carrier is paying its partners, but that it is less than the face value due to the promotional benefits of the program.
The carrier now holds the top score on the American Customer Satisfaction Index among the four national wireless providers.
Sprint was easily the most improved carrier over the past year; it has both slashed prices and improved its service.

But remarkably, consumer sentiment about wireless carriers has grown across the board – due largely to T-Mobile’s competitive promotions. Each week will also include a variation on surprise “thank you” gifts for customers with new partners and companies each week. Each phone line is eligible, so if you have five lines and it’s free pizza Tuesday, your house can get five free pizzas. There are also contests for things like a $10,000 Gilt shopping spree and trip to Peru. Primary account holders can get a free share in T-Mobile, and you can earn up to 100 more shares in T-Mo by referring others to the carrier. If you aren’t a T-Mobile customer, no pizza or Frosty for you!
