Goodell: No Avenue Right Now to Settle ‘Deflategate’ Appeal
Eventually, Buffalo Bills are going to need a new stadium.

Speaking at Jim Kelly’s celebrity golf tournament Monday, Goodell didn’t waver much on that.
ESPN’s Mike Rodak reported Monday morning that NFL Commissioner said there are now no talks of a settlement between the league and Brady. “They’re looking to find the right solutions, they’ll do it patiently, but they’ll find the right long-term solution, ultimately”.
At the National Football League owners meetings, a few owners went on record saying the Bills needed to upgrade their facilities. “I think there’s real progress out there, but these projects are hard”, Goodell said. “We don’t encourage that, obviously, and we’d like to get this resolved and move forward”. The team’s current lease with the county, which began in 2013, runs through 2022. “We’ve had settlement discussions over the past year”.
“Well I think that’s one of the things Terry (Pegula)’s going through, trying to see what it takes to make sure the Bills remain here on a successful basis”, Goodell said. I know that’s their commitment. We’ll support it any way we can.
“That’s for somebody that understands what is important in making sure we maintain that”. We fully support that. In 2014, the organization invested $130 million in new renovations. “You’ve got great facilities here [in the NFL] now, and the Bills have to keep up with that”.
“When it comes to the integrity of the game, that’s the responsibility of the commissioner, and we’re not gonna hand that integrity of the game off to somebody that doesn’t have any involvement in the game”, Goodell said Monday. They’re not made by us. I think the reality is the support of the fans is really the key.
“This is not a cookie cutter approach here, you have to build a stadium that’s right for the community, so that’s up to the community and Terry to get focused on”.

The Bills, Erie County and NY state completed a $130 million renovation of the facility in 2014 that team president Russ Brandon and the Pegulas have stressed takes pressure off the team to build a new stadium in the short term.
