Hillary Clinton wins Virgin Islands democratic contest

He’s consistently railed against the existence of superdelegates, and his team now accuses the Democratic party of fraud in Puerto Rico.

“We just won Puerto Rico!”

Washington awaits as the race to the White House edges closer to the line.

“I will work to ensure that concerns about the oversight board are addressed”, she said in a statement. Other states holding Democratic contests are New Mexico, Montana, South Dakota and North Dakota.

The presidential race is at the top of the ticket, and 2016 marks a rare year in which one party’s nomination fight remains contested leading into New Jersey’s primary.

Mr Sanders has been an irritant to the former secretary of state throughout the campaign.

But voters’ focus was mostly on the island’s economic crisis.

In the build up to Tuesday, Clinton has recently made a point of acknowledging the historic nature of her candidacy as she campaigns across the country.

Almost 2.9 million people are registered to vote.

“I’m for Hillary, girl”, said 83-year-old Candida Dones as she cast her ballot.

“I was in the Senate then, so was President Obama and so was Senator Sanders”. The Associated Press puts her less than 30 delegates from that threshold. She wears the trousers. “If we don’t look out for our own interests, who will?”

“Hillary Clinton will not have the requisite number of pledged delegates to win the Democratic nomination at the end of the nominating process on June 14”, he recently told CNN. Sanders shook hands and stopped for photos during a stroll of more than an hour along the shops, restaurants and amusement park rides of the Santa Monica Pier.

That included a stop at a charity “Pedal on the Pier” fundraiser, telling people riding on stationary bikes that the USA should have “an economy that works for all people, not just the one per cent”. He supports Puerto Rico’s current political status as a commonwealth and urged voters to participate in the primary.

It is ironic after the fraught Republican campaign that it’s on the Democratic side where there is still a sliver of uncertainty around the nomination – Mr Trump is already campaigning for the presidency.

He said Saturday that the Democratic convention would be contested. That won’t happen until Tuesday, because the island’s elections workers took Monday off after counting results until dawn.

Bernie Sanders is using Drake and the Arctic Monkeys in an attempt to attract young voters in next week’s California primary.

“Many in the past and today think that these presidential primaries are a “sham” without consequences”, he said. When super-delegates are added to the mix based on their stated announcements of support, the Sanders campaign will say that doesn’t really count, either, since these insiders could decide to reject the people’s choice next month.

During his trip to Vietnam and Japan, he told reporters that foreign leaders were “rattled” by Trump’s policies, and in a statement on the beginning of Ramadan Sunday restated his commitment to “continue to welcome immigrants and refugees into our nation”. Clinton has 1,809 pledged delegates to Sanders’ 1,520 – but if superdelegates are counted, Clinton’s lead rises to 2,357 to Sanders’ 1,566.
