Warriors one win away from making history
Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals series between the Warriors and Thunder happens tonight at 9 p.m. EDT.

Thompson drilled contested 3-pointers on the first two possessions of the quarter to get things going for the Warriors and all of the sudden things weren’t going as smoothly for the Thunder. Golden State has done a fantastic job to dig out of a 3-1 series hole, but the hardest win still lies ahead on Monday as both teams are now playing for their playoff lives.
Klay Thompson scored a game-high 41 points – setting the National Basketball Association playoff record with 11 3-pointers – to rally the Warriors to a 108-101 victory on the road at Chesapeake Energy Arena on Saturday night to hold off elimination.
“That really wasn’t – hasn’t been us in the last month and a half”, Thunder coach Billy Donovan said. “We gotta get ready for Game 7”.
“We’ve got another game to play”. The Warriors had an answer for every Oklahoma City run. But as the series progressed, the champs bounced back, and on Saturday, evened it at 3-3 with a 108-101 Game 6 victory on the road.
USA Today Sports’ Sam Amick discusses how the Golden State Warriors have clawed back to force a Game 7 against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Warriors also knew what they expected from Thompson, and he delivered when they needed it most. Curry later drained back-to-back three-pointers to tie the game, 99-99.
“I should have had at least 13, because I missed some wide-open looks early”, Thompson said, referring to his three-point shooting.
On the verge of elimination, Klay Thompson would not let the Golden State Warriors’ season to die.
“Everybody probably counted us out. They were down and out, but Klay Thompson took this game to another level”, another said.
The MVP only scored three times in the fourth, but those shots were arguably the biggest of the game.
Thompson opened the second half with back-to-back 3-pointers to give the Warriors a 54-53 edge, but the Thunder closed the quarter strongly and led 83-75 heading into the fourth. Kevin Durant would protect the rim to prevent an easy two. “Curry had some tough ones over hands, so that’s what they do”.
