Two brothers charged with murdering five family members inside their home in suburban Broken Arrow made their first appearance in Tulsa District Court Monday morning. When officers arrived, they found blood outside the front door and heard faint cries for help coming from inside the home.
They found a 13-year-old girl suffering from multiple stab wounds. After pulling her from the home, officers reentered and discovered five other victims, all deceased.
“I was told knives, there was a hatchet, there was several different types of weapons that were actually used in the homicides”, said Cpl.
A judge entered not guilty pleas on their behalf and scheduled a preliminary hearing for October 28. Leon Calhoun, with the Broken Arrow Police Department.
Because Michael Bever is charged with first-degree murder, Oklahoma law stipulates he will be treated as an adult and is not subject to provisions of the Youthful Offender Act or the Juvenile Code for certification as a juvenile. The Bevers’ 2-year-old sister was found upstairs unharmed.
