Don’t Cancel On Kanye West, Especially Not on His Birthday
An impromptu Kanye West gig in NY – arranged following the cancellation of the Governors Ball’s third and final day – was itself cancelled following the influx of fans in their thousands. A whopping 4,000 people came out to see West at the popular venue and waited in the streets, the sidewalks, on stoops, balconies, and even on Postal Service trucks.

As soon as West had announced the gig via Twitter, literally thousands of fans flooded the streets around the venue, desperate to be part of the action.
Some of the other shows meant for the Governors Ball were performed as surprise concerts at Webster Hall. Though they couldn’t make it out into the street or concert hall to perform with such large crowds. The event, put on annually by NY radio station Hot 97, was set to feature performances from Pusha T and Big Sean with the help of Kanye’s G.O.O.D. One person at the scene was arrested for disorderly conduct, according to an official. West did, however, wind up joining Big Sean, Pusha T and Travis Scott at Summer Jam at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium – all the while, his creative director Virgil Abloh sent hints to followers indicating something big would happen at 2AM at Webster. The crowd eventually stopped queuing in an orderly fashion, and a more controlled chaos broke out.
But at some point after 2 A.M, Yeezus and Travis Scott appeared from out of the sunroof of a vehicle, amping up the group even more. Two hours before his gig the rapper tweeted that the show was sold out.
Another fan said: “I support Kanye in everything that he does, I buy his shoes, I buy his clothes, he’s dope, I love him”.
This little tweet volley between pop star and politician is further proof that you can basically just say stuff into the social media void and your message will receive its intended recipient – at least if you’re Kanye West.

A Webster Hall worker tasked with addressing the crowd with a megaphone, told Kanye fans “there is no show here tonight” and to go home safely.
