Where Are Karim Benzema Rumours Coming From? Arsenal Boss Arsene Wenger

Arsenal are planning to offer Real Madrid £46m for the services of Karim Benzema, according to a report.

The plot is thickening in the Karim Benzema-to-Arsenal saga, if transfer journalism Twitter is to be believed.

Having often played with a lone striker, signing the Argentinian would suggest that Rafa Benitez is willing to let Benzema move on while his value is at its highest, rather than risk it plummeting if he is consigned to the bench. “I think there is no doubt about it, I’ve been in that dressing room when a top player comes in, it sends a ripple through the dressing room you feel nearly invincible and on the outside the opposition look at how good you were before and think how much better you will be now”, he added.

Wenger’s options up front now consist of Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck, plus Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott, the latter of whom signed a new long-term contract last week.

Wenger is clear that Arsenal are not in for Benzema and questioned where the speculation is coming from.

The Real Madrid winger, who spent last season on loan at Villarreal is also a target for Liverpool. Already the Gunners have Debuchy, Flamini, Sanogo, Koscielny, Coquelin and Giroud in their ranks, plus Benzema would be reunited with his former team-mate Mesut Ozil.

The player himself is believed to be open to the idea of the switch, and is particularly struck by the idea of working with Arsene Wenger.
