A document filed to the New York Supreme Court this week shows the pair have now settled things out of court and Rita is free to choose a new label and release new music. After years of legal battle over their mutual contract, Rita Ora and Jay Z’s label Roc Nation have agreed on a settlement.
Lawyers representing Roc Nation submitted papers in NY, claiming the company spent more than $2 million (£1.3 million) on marketing and development for the star’s second album, which is still unreleased.
According to reports, Hov and the British singer have reached an out-of-court settlement.
The music executives sued the Radioactive singer past year (15) for breaking her recording contract and failing to deliver the albums she was supposed to produce for them.
“It reads: “[They] have tirelessly promoted [her] career, investing millions of dollars in marketing, recording and other costs, which was instrumental in guiding Ms. Ora to her current level of success and fame.
Ora who was dragged into the Becky with the new hair fiasco following the release of Beyonce’s Lemonade settled out of court with Jay Z’s record label. Fortunately for Rita, the California legislature had the foresight to protect its artists from the sorts of vicissitudes she’s experienced with Roc Nation’.
A source recently told The Sun: “Rita is overjoyed she can finally start discussions with other labels, which have been waiting on this case to be resolved”.

The label’s countersuit claimed that the singer was in breach of the five-album contract after only delivering one record. “This was never a dispute with him”.
