What do you think about the news that Guthrie is pregnant at age 44 and that she will be missing out on the Rio Olympic Games?
Guthrie made the announcement on the NBC program Tuesday morning.
An outbreak of the Zika virus began in Brazil a year ago, and the infection can be spread from pregnant mothers to their fetuses, causing potential defects at birth. The WHO has warned that “pregnant women should not travel to areas with ongoing Zika virus transmission”, which includes Rio de Janeiro.
Today host Savannah Guthrie is pregnant with her second child.
The journalist shared her emotions in a blog post for Today, writing: “It’s hard for words to contain all the excitement Mike and I have about expecting a new baby in December”.
“When Vale was born, our happiness was complete”.
The Today Show family is about to get bigger.
“It is not simply double the joy – it is joy multiplied infinitely”.
Guthrie said on Today that Val will soon be very excited by the news, and that she adores babies.
Two months out from the start of the Olympic games in Rio, Olympics officials will hold a media briefing to discuss the Zika virus. The company advises anyone concerned about the virus to check with their own doctors, and said no one will be required to travel if they believe their health would be at risk.
