Hillary Clinton’s NY primary victory speech in April focused on topics including income inequality, job creation and helping people secure their retirement. Known for her trousers suits, she’s reportedly spent the past few months rehabilitating her appearance, having hired image consultant Kristina Schake, who was supposedly tasked with making Clinton more relatable and formerly worked with Michelle Obama and.

From a fashion perspective, insiders say Hillary’s new style is more modern and carefully accessorized.

Clinton has been criticized for not releasing transcripts of her private speeches to Goldman Sachs executives, which netted her $225,000 each. “She’s moved away from those monochromatic pantsuits”, says Washington, DC-based political style blogger Christina Logothetis.

It was just one small part of a major wardrobe overhaul that one fashion expert pegged as a six-figure operation, the New York Post reported. Michelle Obama is known for wearing designer labels from Jason Wu to Prabal Gurung, and presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has a penchant for Brioni suits, which cost upward of $7,000 each. “It was a really necessary refresh”.

The Republican National Committee came under fire for spending $150,000 for a new wardrobe for Sarah Palin in 2008.

It should be noted that the funds for Clinton’s fashions are most likely coming out of her personal funds, according to MarketWatch. Is it a campaign issue that Hillary Clinton wore such an expensive jacket – and for a speech on inequality?

It is pretty obvious to me that Hillary is spending a lot of money on custom-designed clothing to hide her weight gain in the lower half of her body.

It wasn’t just in NY, where Clinton was photographed recently leaving a Ralph Lauren store on 5th Avenue accompanied by longtime aide Huma Abedin, where Clinton sported fancy fashions.

But, don’t worry Bernie voters, she feels your pain.

“The fact that her fashion choices have been functional rather than glam has let [how much she’s spending] go under the radar”, image consultant Lauren Rothman told the Post.
