Kimbo Slice Died of Heart Failure, Needed a Transplant
He was never the most talented of MMA fighters, but he was one of the most popular and well-known figures in the sport – generating very high ratings for every company he worked for.

The cause of death was still unclear.
Most people would assume that Slice would make his MMA debut in Elite XC, but that would be untrue because he would actually make his pro debut at Cage Fury Fighting Championships V on June 23rd of 2007.
Back in 2003, Slice became an Internet sensation for his backyard fighting videos – destroying several opponents in unsanctioned street fights.
He last fought in February (16), when he took on Dada 5000 at the Bellator 149 event.
Slice, who known as the “King of the Web Brawlers”, was 42 years old. Slice also fought at UFC 113 in Montreal, losing to Matt Mitrione before taking his five-year break from MMA.
“We are all shocked and saddened by the devastating and untimely loss of Kimbo Slice”, Coker said. “HIs loss leaves us all with extremely heavy hearts, and our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Ferguson family and all of Kimbo’s friends, fans and teammates”.
“He carried himself as a true professional during his time in our organization”, the promotion said in a statement Monday night.
Slice was born in the Bahamas and grew up in Florida, playing football in high school.
“The guys who are holding the titles, heavyweight and light heavyweight, these guys are awesome”, Slice told the AP in a 2010 interview before his second UFC fight. Slice’s final MMA fight for Elite XC came at Elite XC: Heat on October 4th of 2008 and it would be a moment that would be remembered forever in MMA history.
Kimbo Slice or Kevin Ferguson, however you or the people around the man knew him as, we can all agree on one huge thing as this piece comes to a close…

Slice is survived by six children, and he credited his MMA career for allowing him to send them to college.
