“Look, Bisping’s a di*k, but he’s a warrior, he’s tough, and he’s going to hang in there”, Rockhold said.

Bisping abruptly knocked down Rockhold midway through the round with a left hand to the jaw of the back-pedalling champion. I have always been a fighter, it always got me in trouble.

San Diego’s Cruz impressively jabbed and spiced in some effective kicks to defuse the charges by Faber (33-9), who was expected to be more desperate in what became his fourth lost title shot.

The assumption might be that Rockhold will get a rematch with Bisping but champing at the bit is No.6 ranked middleweight contender, Australia’s Robert Whittaker, who quickly tweeted “I’m coming”, after Bisping knocked Rockhold out. The California State Athletic Commission then checked Rockhold’s condition and gave a green signal for the fight.

He fulfilled that destiny, but Rockhold promised afterward that he’d cut short Bisping’s reign. A much deserved rest and a party, for sure. This main event was originally supposed to be a rematch against Chris Weidman for Rockhold, but after Weidman had to withdraw from the fight with an injury, Bisping agreed to step in and take his place.

For some time, critics and opponents of Michael Bisping have pointed to his record to support their argument that he doesn’t possess KO power.

And another big congratulations to those that bet Bisping as the underdog. He had chased a title shot for almost a decade as a contender without ever getting the opportunity until he agreed to step in for an injured Chris Weidman on two weeks’ notice. Bisping said in reference to his huge UFC 199 victory and a sparring session between the two that he’s referred to in the past.

After making the slur, Bisping quickly caught himself, saying “Oh, I shouldn’t have said that”. I think he’s a fantastic fighter … “I always knew I had the ability”. I started fighting when I came out of my mother’s womb. “This is my dream, no one can take this away from me”. I got a couple more shots on him. “That guy is a piece of sh*t, and I want to fu*king come kill him next time around (Transcription via MMAFighting)”. I was positive in believing him.
