Rookie Luis Perdomo (1-2) started in place of James Shields for San Diego. Those two pitchers combined with the flame thrower in Corey Kluber gives the Tribe a very solid front end that rivals many in baseball and if they can sustain this pace at the plate and eventually add in Michael Brantley they will be a very interesting team to watch throughout the season and we could very well see them back in the playoffs this season.
Aaron Nola pitched six scoreless innings and matched his career high with nine strikeouts and Philadelphia backed him with three home runs in a win over Milwaukee. The Brewers stranded 10 runners against him.
Volquez allowed five runs in 6 1/3 innings.
Napoli’s home run barely got out of the ballpark, a hooking shot that off the bat looked more like a fly-out.
