According to Mashable, Netflix has created a chart called “The Binge Scale” that ranks shows on the basis that you would be more likely to “savor” them over ones that you “devour”. However, it seems that specific genres lend themselves more easily to each type of consumption, and now we can observe how other viewers favor watching certain types of shows and compare the stats to our own TV-watching habits.

“I do think what you are seeing is that when you give members control over how slowly or how quickly that they want to watch their favourite shows, they’re going to do it relatively quickly, if they’re invested in the series, ” said Cindy Holland, Netflix’s vice president of original content in an interview.

The concept of binge-watching is a relatively new phenomenon, one we can attribute to the recent, tremendous popularity of online streaming services like Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime that allow viewers to consume as many episodes in one sitting as they wish.

More likely to be binged are dramatic comedies like Orange Is the New Black and Parenthood, action and adventure shows like Arrow and Prison Break, and sci-fi series like Ascension and Sense8.

“It’s no surprise that complex narratives, like that of House of Cards and Bloodline, are indulged at an unhurried pace”. And the most devoured show is The Fall, since people just cannot get enough Gillian Anderson in their lives, and who can blame them?

Shows that are “devoured” by users are “House of Cards”, “Bloodline”, “Peaky Blinders”, “Mad Men”, “BoJack Horseman”, “Love” and “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”.

On average, The 4400 viewers burned through two and a half hours of the show per day. “Netflix helps you to find a series to binge no matter your mood or occasion, and the freedom to watch that series at your own pace”.
