Some Bulgarian fans reportedly were shouting anti-Semitic epithets at Israeli players during the game.

Violence erupted at a soccer match in Bulgaria between Ashdod F.C. and CSKA Sofia Monday when fans of the home team burst into the game forcing the visiting Israeli team to run off the field.
Fans tossed objects onto the field after an Ashdod player received a red card for a horrific tackle, but tensions quickly bubbled over and some spectators left the stands to terrorize the players on the pitch.
Ashdod’s players were forced to flee the pitch, with some sprinting to the other side of the pitch, into the stand and out of the back of the stadium. No players were injured, but one of the coaches was hit in the face by a glass bottle.

The incident took place after the aggressive Israeli players from Ashdod Football Club, in blue jerseys, committed a third foul on the Bulgarian team SFKA Sofia in what was meant to be a “friendly match”. “You don’t think about it when it happens, but there is no doubt that our lives were in real danger at that moment”.
