Microsoft decided to make Windows 10 free to some users who have Windows 7 or Windows 8 operating systems. There are also new versions of OneNote and Outlook.

Microsoft has suffered a backlash from Mozilla concerning Windows 10 default browser setup.

These figures show that Windows 10’s initial usage is far more impressive than that of Windows 8.1, whose usage share was at only 0.6 percent globally and in the U.S. on its third day following its rollout.

Microsoft has also included some other fresh wallpapers and lock screen wallpapers along with the Microsoft’s new Hero Wallpaper. We’ll see how Cortana adapts to the desktop environment, but this is an assistant that learns as it goes and holds its own against Apple’s Siri and Google Now in a rapidly developing niche.

The Windows upgrade provides lots of personalization.

This is what it looks like if you download the file in the scam email.

“I suspect this one is going to be an absolute bastard to deal with because they use good asymmetric encryption”, security outreach manager of Cisco’s Talos team, Craig Williams, said in The Register. “Send Microsoft and trusted partners some location data to improve location services”. As always, please back up your data before upgrading.

If you are foolhardy enough to install the attachment, you’ll be met with a chilling message saying your files have been encrypted and you’ll need to pay cold, hard cash to get them unlocked again.

Microsoft Corporation’s new Windows 10 upgrade is proven to be a wild success after its first week out. The tech company knows that most people use Apple at home and Windows at work.

In his blog, Mr Biasini notes that the sender ([email protected]) colour scheme and disclaimers at the bottom of the page all make the email appear real. But the advice would be not to go for the emails putting you through to Windows 10 even before the makers have launched the roll out for you. “We are doing everything we can to upgrade the world to Windows 10 as quickly as possible over the coming days and weeks ahead”.

Windows 10 is being offered as a free upgrade for up to one year after its July 29 release.
