British entertainer Cilla Black dead at 72
Black’s enduring popularity stemmed largely from her amiable nature and her proud Liverpudlian accent, addressing people affectionately as “chuck” and her breezy “lorra, lorra laughs” catch-phrases.

Though Black’s sudden death at 72, while she was staying at her Spanish home near Marbella, has stunned fans and friends, Cilla herself was unsentimental about her own mortality.
Black’s pop career persisted until the end of the 1960s, by which time she was an internationally-acclaimed star, having notably successfully broken into the notoriously hard United States market. I needed her album. “RIP Cilla“. “We’ve been friends for nearly 20 years”. She would go on to host gameshow “Blind Date” in the ’80s and ’90s.
She said she knew “Cilla had little niggly things that were wrong with her”.
You have been contacting us to tell us about your encounters with the popular personality, who was famous for changing people’s lives when she hosted the shows Surprise Surprise and Blind Date.
“She had that common touch when you get to everybody with your career”. She followed it up with a second No 1, an English-language version of the Italian song “Il Mio Mondo” entitled “You’re My World“. She had such a following with all the shows she did.
In a tweet, her pal Joan Collins referred to as Black “a resplendent and uncommon expertise”. Her parents were frustrated performers: her mother was gifted with a powerful soprano voice, and would sing whenever friends came round, accompanied by her husband on the mouth organ. It was on one such occasion that their five-year-old daughter joined in and gave a rendition of Al Jolson’s “Mammy“.
It all began when Katie wrote her original shocking statement, just hours after the news of Cilla’s death emerged.
“Does it have a special meaning for you?” she asked.
LONDON (AP) – Big-voiced British singer Cilla Black, a product of Beatles-era Liverpool who became a national treasure over a 50-year music and television career, has died. “She was a lovely girl who infected everyone with her great spirit”.
Black spoke about ageing in a frank interview with the Daily Mirror ahead of her 71st birthday past year. Her debut single, Love of the Loved written by Lennon and McCartney, was a relative failure.
“That ginger hair and those long legs had all the young men of Northern Ireland agog”, says Ivan, who was 12 when Cilla had her first hit.
One moment she possibly enjoyed a little bit too much was when she swore LIVE on This Morning.
“But the week I proceed right into a region and avaliable my gob to communicate in, you are aware numerous luxury is gone”.
