Henrikh Mkhitaryan comments in 2009 make Arsenal favourites to sign him
With Robert Lewandowski, Mats Hummels and Ilkay Gundogan among the stars that have been lured away from Signal Iduna Park by lucrative deals, Borussia Dortmund’s reluctance is understandable, but their hard-line stance has left them on the brink of losing yet another star turn.

Given that we’ve signed Granit Xhaka, Petr Cech, Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil in the past few summers, Mkhitaryan, on last season’s form, could be the best of the bunch and cost in the region of just £27m.
Could the Mkhitaryan situation impact Arsenal’s chase for Alvaro Morata?
The Gunners have been widely linked with the £27.5m rated player, and are reportedly the favorites among the clubs looking to sign the player. They claim that the Gunners are in pole position to land a deal – despite Chelsea interest – due to the fact that the Emirates Stadium is Mkhitaryan’s “preferred destination”.
The bianconeri have been linked to several key midfield targets already this summer, and Borussia Dortmund’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan is one of the names on the shopping list for the reigning Italian champions.
Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham are also keen on Mkhitaryan.
It remains to be seen whether Arsenal, or indeed Chelsea or Spurs, would be willing to match that figure but £27m would be a relative bargain for a player of Mkhitaryan’s quality in today’s market.

Although it is a possibility that Mkhitaryan will wait until next summer to choose whether or not to commit to Dortmund, recent reports claim that a contract offer worth £4.6 million per year would be enough to persuade the player’s representatives.
