Tuesday’s comeback in Game 2 of the WCWS has left Auburn’s softball team feeling confident entering Wednesday’s championship game against Oklahoma.

Paige Parker pitched a complete game to help Oklahoma defeat Auburn 2-1 on Wednesday night for its third national softball title. After a Caleigh Clifton single, Shay Knighten’s ground ball was booted by Tuesday night’s hero Carosone, which allowed Clifton to advance to third. Fale Aviu then singled home Knighten to make it 2-0 Sooners.
Bryan County alum Tiffany Howard was 1-for-3 in the final game for the Tigers and was on-deck when the last Auburn out was made in the top of the seventh inning.
This is the third College World Series title that Oklahoma has won in program history and its second since 2013.
Oklahoma coach Patty Gasso was questioned about the decision to rest Parker during Game 2, when Auburn rallied from an early 7-0 deficit to beat the Sooners 11-7 in eight innings.
Parker came back refreshed.
After going down in order to open the game, Auburn found itself down 2-0 due to a pair of errors by second baseman Emily Carosone. She threw 107 pitches, struck out five and walked one.
