With a 5-2 win on Monday night against the Los Angeles Angels, the New York Yankees were looking to replicate their success in Tuesday night’s game at Yankee Stadium.

Turned around to the right side, the switch-hitting Beltran went the opposite way for his team-leading 14th homer. “He’s a guy that has a lot of talent”.

Pujols had an RBI single in the first and Kole Calhoun lifted a sacrifice fly in the third for the Angels, who have dropped 12 of their last 15 visits to NY. The second home run came with nobody out in the seventh and the Yankees leading 8-5.

Chapman failed to back up the plate after giving up a go-ahead single in the eighth inning of a loss Sunday at Baltimore, and another run scored when the ball got loose.

“Kind of took out my 9-iron on that one, I guess”, Parmelee said. There is no more talk of his losing a rotation spot, only about what it would mean for the Yanks if he were to start pitching to his potential.

“It just seemed like David couldn’t establish really anything, getting ahead in the count or bringing his secondary pitches in”, Manager Mike Scioscia said. He is slated to throw all of his pitches in his next session, coming either Thursday or Friday, and believes he’ll be ready for the next step after that: “I had no pain or anything today, and if all goes well next time, yeah… This is what I’ve done all my life”, Beltran said.

“I think it’s important for him to do it back to back and get on a roll like we’ve seen him do”, Girardi added.

Aroldis Chapman, whom manager Girardi said was unavailable, pitched a flawless ninth for his 10th save in 11 chances.

Dellin Betances struck out two in a ideal eighth.

“I wasn’t anxious about him, ” Girardi said. “That one inning, a couple of homers”, Angels star Mike Trout said. “That’s encouraging because that’s something that hasn’t happened this year”.

The 39-year-old Beltran homered in the first for his 1,000th career extra-base hit. Andrew Miller pitched the ninth and notched his seventh save.

Angels vs Yankees Wednesday in NY – Veteran right-hander Jered Weaver will be making his 12th start of the year on Wednesday night when the Los Angeles Angels face off against Nathan Eovaldi and the New York Yankees.

“I don’t think it’s really sunk in yet”, he said.

In the bottom of the second inning, Rob Refsnyder hit an RBI sacrifice fly to score Aaron Hicks and made it 4-0. Fulmer (6-1) struck out five and walked three in his third straight start without allowing a run. “Swarzak was getting big innings, and Parmelee has always swung the bat”, Yankees catcher Brian McCann said. Things got interesting quick.

Two pitches later, Castro connected for the Yankees’ fourth set of consecutive home runs this season.
