Former Wake Forest coach Jim Grobe is expected to be named the interim coach at Baylor, according to multiple reports.

The news of McCaw’s resignation comes during a tumultuous time for Baylor. Perhaps the school realized promoting defensive coordinator Phil Bennett was the wrong move, as all eyes are on a program that handled sexual assault allegations horrendously, with the coaching staff at the center of attention.

In the wake of the departure of football coach Art Briles and athletic director Ian McCaw, a key Baylor player affirmed his commitment to the program.

The changes at Baylor happened shortly after the university released partial findings of Pepper Hamilton, the law firm hired to investigate Baylor’s response to sexual assault allegations.

He resigned after the 2013 season, his fifth straight at Wake Forest that ended with a losing record.

He also served an eight-year term as chair of the American Football Coaches Association’s ethics committee and remains an active member.

With McCaw overseeing Baylor athletics since the 2003-2004 athletic year, the Bears enjoyed success in many programs. Dave Clawson has gone 6-18 in two seasons at Wake Forest since Grobe’s firing.

The Baylor baseball team also claimed a Big 12 Championship in the 2011 season.

The Baylor Bears have found a temporary replacement for Art Briles. Once the 2016-17 season is over though, a full house-cleaning will take place as the Bears try to find a long term answer to replace Briles, the most successful coach in Baylor history. He then spent two seasons (1976-77) as head coach at Liberty High School in Bedford, Va., before returning to the college ranks as an assistant coach at Emory & Henry (1978), Marshall (1979-83) and Air Force (1984-94). Ukwuachu’s former girlfriend testified at his trial that he had struck and choked her when he attended Boise State.

Oakman, the school’s all-time sacks leader who wasn’t selected in last month’s National Football League draft, told police he had consensual sex with the woman.
