Ventura, Machado in all-out brawl in game
I seriously hope Yordano Ventura stops acting like an immature jerk and straightens up because he is a very talented pitcher. Royals’ reliever Chien-Ming Wang wasn’t about to hit anyone, so intent was he on grooving melons to Orioles hitters. In the second inning, with Baltimore leading 5-0, the two exchanged words after Ventura twice threw inside to the two-time All-Star.

The four-run fourth was the main inning where Baltimore did much on offense as Kansas City outhit the Orioles 9-4.
The Baltimore Orioles outfielder ripped Ventura while defending teammate Manny Machado for the brawl that occurred during Tuesday’s game against the Royals, which included Machado punching Ventura (video here).
Royals manager Ned Yost said there was “more to this thing” than was being portrayed on highlight shows.
Rangers 4, Astros 3 • Ian Desmond hit a tiebreaking two-run homer in the eighth inning and host Texas won its fifth straight game. Other times, like the first inning last night when he gave up four runs, and almost more if not for a spectacular home run-saving catch by Lorenzo Cain, he looks like yet another Royals’ system starting pitcher, that fails to capitalize on his potential.
Like I have previous expressed, I do not fault Manny Machado for acting on his emotions because I know myself and so many other people would react the same way. “Frustration does you no good”. On Tuesday, he allowed six earned runs in 4 1/3 innings before his ejection.
“Coming into today my plan was fastballs inside and breaking balls in the dirt”, Ventura said, speaking through translator Pedro Grifol. “When he gets it up in the zone, it’s hard to hit”.
The Orioles also appeared to get the last laugh, with Mark Trumbo and Chris Davis belting back-to-back home runs right after the brawl, giving Baltimore an 8-1 lead.
For Wednesday’s game, the Royals will be rolling with right-hander Edinson Volquez. Ryan Flaherty had the key hit, a bases-loaded double that broke open a 0-0 game. You got to deal with consequences that are going to come your way.
The skid has dropped the defending World Series champions from first to third in the AL Central.
NATIONALS 10, WHITE SOX 5 Bryce Harper drove in three runs, Anthony Rendon homered and visiting Washington handed Chicago its 19th loss in 25 games. After flying out to left, Machado had some choice words for the pitcher as he made his way down the first base line. With the win, the Orioles have taken the first two games of this series with Kansas CIty. The trouble started after he got the first out in the fifth. A twenty game suspension would be most appropriate due to Ventura’s penchant ability to hit batters and cause benches to empty onto the playing field.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Ventura plunked Orioles shortstop Manny Machado in the ribs with a fastball. Ventura stands on a point where his career can slip away from him if he doesn’t let the tough guy act go.

Jimmy’s Famous Seafood, a well-known Baltimore restaurant, has offered Machado free crab cakes for life for going after Ventura.
