New Google Chrome for Android

The post mentions that the new Chrome 51 version for Android has been officially released, just days after the company debuted the latest desktop version. “The page with the highest power usage (androidcentral.com) has several heavy per-frame timers, which could motivate a subsequent intervention to throttle timers for out-of-view frames”, Google stated in a report summarizing the power usage impact of stopping running Blink’s rendering pipeline for out-of-view frames.

You can snag the Acer Chromebook 11 and Chromebook 14 at the Google Store both in the United States and Canada for $179.99 and $299.99, respectively.

“I think Google’s decision to enable Chromebooks with Android apps is more a natural evolution of the two platforms than it is ‘transformational, ‘” IDC analyst Bryan Bassett told us today. Apparently, the tech giant confirmed during its I/O 2016 developer conference that Chromebooks are about to have the capability to run Android apps. Think about it, they will offer a PC like experience for Android users and they have probably been craving for one for a long time. As Engadget points out, Android apps on a Chromebook that lacks a decent touchscreen probably won’t be very fun to use. But all apps looked pretty good in this demo; they simply took more of a tablet shape. Some factors like a lower-end Chromebook might give a different user experience.

Android app support for Chrome OS won’t arrive until this fall. Buyers will have to know which models would be able to support Android apps. Greenbot suggests Google’s ARC Welder’s tool to test Android apps on Chromebook to get the feel of how they would be, though it says that the experience might not be at par with what has been shown on the video.
