Bernie Sanders under pressure to quit as Democrats look to unite
“Anyone who supported Bernie Sanders who thinks we should raise the minimum wage, who thinks that we should have universal health care coverage, who thinks that the wealthy have not paid their fair share would certainly not find that Donald Trump’s views are in line with theirs”, she said on ABC. He vowed to fight on for a political revolution but showed signs he would bow to the inevitable and bring his insurgent effort to a close.

The historic nature of Clinton officially becoming the Democratic presidential nominee (barring something unforeseen) isn’t just about Hillary or my own dream of someone like her. Reports abound on social media that parents allowed their children to stay up past their bedtimes on a school night – as so many of us did in 1969 – to witness an important first in American history.
“One of Clinton’s real challenges in this campaign”, he said, “has been trying to explain to young female voters, why the accomplishments of the feminists of her generation, should be relevant to their lives”. “I’m very much looking forward to working with him to do that”.
Some of Mr Sanders’ Democratic colleagues are growing increasingly outspoken in urging him to wind down his campaign and throw his support behind Mrs Clinton.
Sanders, for now at least, is pressing ahead with plans to compete in the final primary battle of the year, in the District of Columbia.
Sen. Bob Casey of Pennsylvania said it was time for the party to unite, “the sooner the better”, and Sen.
On Monday, Clinton clinched the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination, becoming the first woman in America’s 240-year history to be the presumptive nominee of a major USA political party. Trump calls Clinton by the nickname “Crooked Hillary” and often says she belongs behind bars for her use of a private email account and server during her time as secretary of state.
Sanders is set to meet with President Obama on Thursday. Warren fears that as vice president, or in a cabinet position, her voice could be less heard than it is in the U.S. Senate on her priority issues such as addressing income inequality, the sources said. Obama “slow jammed” the news, reprising one of Fallon’s more popular bits.
“Next Tuesday we continue the fight”, Sanders told a large crowd of cheering supporters gathered in Santa Monica.
Her razor-thin win in Iowa and crushing defeat in New Hampshire to Bernie Sanders sparked questions about her weaknesses as a candidate and second-guessing about her operation.
As the Democratic race was wrapping up, Republicans were unraveling anew.
Obama told Fallon that “it was a healthy thing for the Democratic Party to have a contested primary” and praised Sanders for the “enormous energy and new ideas” he brought to the campaign. At the same time, Sanders indicated he does not intend to jeopardize Democrats’ prospects in November.
According to Politico reporter Hadas Gold: “No editors interviewed for this story acknowledged assigning reporters to Clinton based on their gender, and none of the reporters said they were chosen because they were women”.
Besides winning the nomination, a top Sanders priority is injecting his populist brand of progressivism into the Democratic Party platform.
Yet it was unclear whether Sanders was ready to follow that script.
Obama’s impending endorsement for Clinton seemed like a fait accompli. And finally, the last map has the results of every state contest in this oh-so-long 2016 primary season.
There was little reason for overconfidence among Democrats, who haven’t seen that powerful coalition of minorities, young people and women reliably show up for candidates not named Obama during the last two midterm elections.

Obama levels of support and turnout among those groups – especially African-Americans and Hispanics – would make Trump’s path to victory exceedingly narrow.
