Contrary to popular belief, it wasn’t Bobby Brown who sparked Whitney Houston’s drug habit. “We should have been better”, Brown said in the 20/20 interview, referring to himself and Houston, who also dealt with substance-abuse issues. In Every Little Step, Bobby claims he found Houston “hunched over a bureau, snorting a line of coke”.
He says she asked him to join in, but he did not indulge at that moment. And she knew I wouldn’t.
In a tell-all interview (to promote a new book, surprise surprise) Brown claims that he made a decision to break with tradition and go to see his bride before the wedding day, but was “shocked” to find Whitney “hunched over a bureau snorting a line of coke”.
“She did drugs, but drugs didn’t do her”, claims Brown. She did drugs but it – drugs didn’t do her. “She knew how to handle herself”, Brown said of the incident. “I loved her laughter, and that’s what I miss most, that’s what I miss already”.
“I know”, the 47-year-old tells Us Weekly of Houston’s relationship with Crawford, 55.
“But yes, one time, I woke up and, yeah, a ghost – I was being mounted by a ghost”.
After her mother Whitney died, Kristina grew distant from her father and other family members, he said in an interview with Robin Roberts on ABC’s 20/20. Brown says two days before she was found face-down in a bathtub, she was set to move from Georgia to Los Angeles to be near him.
Brown’s revealing TV interview will air a month after he joined his daughter’s court-appointed conservator, Bedelia Hargrove, as a plaintiff in the wrongful death civil case against Gordon.
Whitney Houston’s mother had told Oprah Winfrey in 2013 she “absolutely” would have been bothered if the singer had been lesbian. In this book, which comes out June 13, Brown describes in detail his tumultuous years with Houston, who died in 2012, and the estrangement from Bobbi Kristina Brown after their divorce.
“The last thing I told her, I just said, ‘Let go.’ I said, ‘It’s OK, you can go with your mom, daddy’ll be all right”.

“Whether I would have chosen Bobby for my daughter’s husband is not important because the choice was not mine to make”, she continued. “There is only one person around both occasions”.
