Eligible individuals can register or update their registration up to and including Election Day to vote in person. Between the new voters and the change of party requests, the Democrats went up 9,639 and Republicans went up 2,443.

Mail ballot voters received their ballots on May 18 and almost 100,000 voted ballots have already been returned.

In Los Angeles County, almost 30 percent of registered voters turned out, up from 21.87 percent in 2012, according to the Los Angeles Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk.

The June 28 Primary Election is being conducted as an all Mail Ballot Election. Under California law, voters who change parties must then be sent a second ballot that reflects the requested registration change.

There were “no new issues that we don’t experience each election, ” Registrar of Voters Michael Vu said.

Under state law, “No Party Preference” voters may keep their no-party status and ask the Registrar of Voters for a crossover ballot to vote in the primaries for the American Independent Party, the Democratic Party or the Libertarian Party.

All the ballots in the green vote by mail envelope are scanned to make sure the signatures match the one on file in the elections office. County elections officials will be busy processing and counting ballots in the coming days, and our office will be assessing any reports of issues on Election Day.

The Logan County Clerk and Recorder’s Office is in election mode, as evidenced by the red, white and blue bunting in the Courthouse rotunda and stars hanging in their office.

In addition, the Grand View Room at the Lionshead parking structure in Vail will be available for voter services on Friday, June 24; Saturday, June 25; Monday, June 27; and Election Day, June 28. Those affiliated with either the Republican or Democratic Party will receive a ballot containing the names of the candidates in their party’s contested nomination races. Look at your ballot carefully and be sure to cast only one vote for USA senator or your vote will not count.
