Motorola has had a rough past couple of years, as the company was first bought by Google, who then sold it to PC giant Lenovo. Chay said: “Moto Mods instantly transform your smartphone into an entirely new device”.
The Moto Z Droid and Moto Z Force Droid will be available this summer in the U.S. only through Verizon, which seriously sucks.
Beleaguered smartphone maker Motorola is releasing two new flagship handsets, the Moto Z and the more expensive variant, the Moto Z force.
Moto’s new Z is the thinnest flagship phone in the world at just over 5mm thick.
The camera on the Droid Edition is a 13MP camera with optical image stabilization and laser autofocus while the Force Edition has an “industry-leading 21MP camera”, with optical image-stabilization, phase detection autofocus (PDAF), and laser autofocus.
These 5.5-inch handsets feature AMOLED screens with QHD resolution, Snapdragon 820 systems-on-chip from Qualcomm, 4GB of RAM, and a 3500mAh battery with Turbo Charge. If this isn’t enough, a microSD card slot allows storage to be expanded by up to 2TB. The push for mobile VR and modular phones are attempts to keep up with the crushing pace of phone innovation, yet neither have definitively proved that they are innovations that people even want. In terms of build quality, the Moto Z is built with a combination of aluminum and stainless steel materials.
Well, Moto Mods are snap-on accessories that can be magnetically attached to the smartphone using the 16 pin connector that is at the bottom back of the smartphone. The first three MotoMods include a speaker from JBL, a clip-on projector, and a battery back.

The Z Force’s main difference with the regular model is that it has a larger 3,500mAh battery, a better 21-megapixel camera and a stronger glass coating for the display. The Z Force has Motorola’s ShatterShield technology, which means you can drop your phone on your marble floor or throw it at your assistant and nothing will break (on the phone anyway). These are all specs we’ve come to expect in 2016, but we’ll have to wait until later this summer when we really get up and close with the phone to see if it performs well. An unlocked version of the phone won’t be available until the fall. It’s kept running by a 2,600 mAh battery which can charge very quickly – up to 8 hours of use delivered with just 15 minutes of charging.
