Jack Wilshere and Daniel Sturridge Get Nod – England Euro 2016 Squad Confirmed

Rashford was a surprise inclusion in the provisional squad after only having made his Manchester United debut in February, but the 18-year-old scored and was named man of the match in a 2-1 win over Australia on his England debut on Friday.

‘I don’t need to try anything out any more, ‘ he said.

Hodgson’s squad is the youngest to represent England at a European Championship, with an average age of 25.

Newcastle winger Andros Townsend, who ended last term in a fine run of form, was also axed from Hodgson’s final 23-man party heading to France.

“I’ve always said I’ve been really excited to play in this team and nothing’s changed”. If there’s one guy that I thought deserved a place in the squad then I thought it would be him.

The local Manchester lad has set the world alight in his short spell in the first team at Old Trafford, netting five times in 11 Premier League appearances in 2016. Good luck to the lads. “Bring it home #england”.

England can still call in a replacement before their opening Euro 2016 game against Russian Federation on Saturday week but only if a player suffers an injury or illness serious enough to stop them playing in the tournament.

The Liverpool striker completed two training sessions since Friday and will hope to be part of Thursday’s final pre-tournament friendly, when England face Portugal at Wembley.

Hodgson’s side begin their Group B campaign in France against Russian Federation on 11 June, before meeting Wales on 16 June and Slovakia on 20 June.

Goalkeepers: Joe Hart, Fraser Forster, Tom Heaton.

Defenders: Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Chris Smalling (Manchester United), John Stones (Everton), Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur), Ryan Bertrand (Southampton), Danny Rose (Tottenham Hotspur), Nathaniel Clyne (Liverpool).

According to Sun Sport, rather than mark Rashford as the fifth forward behind Rooney, Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy and Daniel Sturridge, Hodgson plans to list Rashford as his fourth man with his captain being moved to midfield.
