Campuses aren’t safe. Are universities doing enough?
According to federal campus safety data, 100 colleges and universities had at least 10 reports of rape on their main campuses in 2014. “The fact that 43 incidents were reported indicates that we are building trust among our campus community members in how the university responds to reported incidents of sexual and gender-based violence”.

Some Stanford faculty and students remain unimpressed with the university’s handling of sexual assaults and its response to the Turner case.
Compared nationally, the College Park is tied in 20th for most reported rapes. Wesleyan University reported 37 of rape cases followed by University of Virginia with 35 cases.
The Washington Post’s analysis, covering more than 1,300 schools with at least 1,000 students, found 99 schools had at least 10 reports of rape on their main campuses in 2014. “We have made the process very transparent and as friendly as it can possibly be in that situation”, Myers said. It’s risky, giving colleges a strong incentive to bury their heads in the sand and discourage victims of rape from coming forward about what happened to them. “Our numbers are showing truthfully what is happening on our campus”.
About two-thirds of reported completed rapes occur off campus and one-third on campus.

“We strongly encourage individuals to report crimes and to use the resources provided by the university”, Rutgers officials said in a statement.
