“At this point, we are just monitoring” the area, she said.
The natural disaster struck in San Diego County at 1:04 a.m. and was followed by a few aftershocks that reached up to a magnitude of 3.5.
The quake disturbed residents and got them out of bed in Borrego Springs, California located near San Diego, USA Today reports. It was strong enough to be felt in Los Angeles.

CBS Palm Springs affiliate KESQ says a quake of that strength at that depth is capable of generating considerable damage. It was near a magnitude-6 natural disaster in 1937 and a magnitude-5.3 quake in 1980, Jones reported. Another two aftershocks of similar magnitudes were recorded over the next 40 minutes. The local police department told NBC News there were no reports of damage.
