Atletico deserved UCL over Madrid – De Gea

Two weeks after taking over the reins at Old Trafford, Jose Mourinho is wasting no time getting to work as he looks to reshape Louis van Gaal’s underachieving side after a disappointing season in which the club finished a fifth, missing out on Champions League qualification.

According to reports in Spain, Manchester United believe that they will be able to prise Gareth Bale away from Real Madrid this summer.

Navas, of course, was to be sent to Manchester as a makeweight for the United number 1.

After the move to Real fell apart last summer, De Gea signed a new four-year contract at United and continued the fine form which had propelled him to the position of arguably the best goalkeeper anywhere in the world.

‘We hope that Mourinho, with his will to win, will make sure United to return to the top. I am very grateful to United.

Thanks to Zinedine Zidane’s persistence in the matter, club president Florentino Pérez will follow his coach’s wishes to keep Navas, Casilla and Yáñez as the three team goalies.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper has been one of United’s most solid performers in recent years, winning the club’s Player of the Year award for three successive seasons.

On interest from Real Madrid: “I know nothing about Real Madrid wanting to sign me. They are a very big club and I am very happy there”.

I know nothing about Madrid wanting to sign me.

Two-time defending champions Spain kick off their Euro 2016 Group D campaign against the Czech Republic on Monday, before facing Turkey and Croatia.

Asked by Marca what he thought of Mourinho’s appointment, De Gea said: “To speak of Jose Mourinho is to talk about a winning coach and that is United’s philosophy and mine”.
