The Niger Delta Avengers has declared war on the national and worldwide oil companies operating in the region, arguing the government in Abuja has put revenue interests above the interests of its people. “They must be people with knowledge, fear of God and power to implement whatever decisions that are taken for the good of Niger-Delta”, she said.

This is the sixth attack the Niger Delta Avengers have claimed responsibility for within the last two weeks.

The NDA demands a share of Nigeria’s oil wealth and the right to self-determination for the people living in the Niger delta region.

“We are not like some of these personalities who run champagne parties or turn Rivers State Government House into a house patrimony of god-sons and prebendalism”.

Oil prices climbed to fresh peaks for 2016 for the third day in a row on Wednesday due to supply disruptions in Nigeria and data showing lower U.S. petroleum inventories.

A former chairman of Benikrukru Community, host to several multinational oil companies in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief Ojogun, described the continued attacks on oil facilities as unfortunate.

NDA in a statement by its spokesperson, Brig.-General Mudoch Agbinibo, said: “Since the amalgamation of Nigeria in 1914 to date, our resources have been used to sustain the political administrative live wire of Nigeria to the exclusion of the Niger Delta”.

He said, “I am pained by the recent happening in the Niger Delta Region”.
