Actress Amber Heard, the estranged wife of Hollywood star Johnny Depp, is accusing her husband of domestic violence amid a bitter divorce battle.

In the new photos, released to People magazine, the 30-year-old Rum Diary actress can be seen with bruising around her face and a bloodied lip, reportedly taken after an alleged violent incident in December of last year.
In her vividly worded descriptions of Depp’s alleged longstanding abuse, Heard detailed how his “exceptionally scary” temper had “proven many times to be physically unsafe and/or life threatening” throughout their 15-month marriage.
Depp’s legal team has vehemently denied Heard’s allegations and suggested she launched them for financial advantage in their divorce proceedings.
The divorce filing came a couple days after another alleged domestic abuse incident on May 21, wherein Heard accused Depp of throwing her cellphone at her, causing injuries to her face.
Heard said in a sworn declaration in her restraining order application that Depp threw her phone at her during a fight on Saturday, striking her cheek and eye.
“This incident really stuck with me because she confided in me that day that she feared for her life after an intoxicated Johnny tried to suffocate her with a pillow”, she added.
It comes after Amber’s lawyers insisted she DID give a police statement about the abuse claims.
Heard’s lead attorney Samantha Spector and her co-counsel Joseph Koenig said in a joint statement that Heard’s actions are not motivated by money. “Amber is a fearless and financially independent woman who is showing the courage of her convictions by doing the right thing against Johnny’s relentless army of lawyers and surrogates”.
However, the lawyers add that Amber was left with no choice but to go to the police again, “as she can not continue to leave herself open to the vicious false and malicious allegations that have infected the media”. Heard submitted multiple photos as evidence of the alleged abuse, including photos of herself appearing to show marks around her eye. Heard is requesting $50,000 in monthly spousal support, reports the Times.
“Hopefully the dissolution of his short marriage will be resolved quickly”, the statement read.
