In tweets now deleted, the group also claimed to have gained accessed to Zuck’s Instagram account, but Facebook confirmed that the group did not access his Instagram account. The hacking group OurMine Team took responsibility for the hacks, though it wasn’t a sophisticated security breach by any means. “DM for proof…” one Tweet from Zuckerberg’s Twitter account read, according to a screenshot grabbed by @Ben_Hall. Mark Zuckerberg, the creator of one of the world’s most popular social media platforms recently had his Pinterest and Twitter profiles defaced by a hacker or group of hackers calling itself, OurMine.

The hackers had supposedly found the passwords in a massive pile of data from LinkedIn. The Twitter and Pinterest accounts are now back under his control.

The group says Zuckerberg’s password was “dadada”, which is highly unlikely.

Twitter, however, has two factor authentication, requiring a credential other than passwords to access an account. “No Facebook systems or accounts were accessed“, the company said in its statement.

To mitigate risk of having your online accounts hacked, change your passwords regularly and don’t use the same password for multiple accounts.

The nature of the tweet sent from Zuckerberg’s account on Sunday suggested that the executive had been using the same password for Twitter as he had with his LinkedIn profile. We are taking immediate steps to invalidate the passwords of the accounts impacted, and we will contact those members to reset their passwords.

While Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook and Instagram were safe the hackers managed to gain access to his Pinterest Twitter and Linked In accounts
