– Buchholz, who was removed from the Red Sox’s rotation earlier in the week, worked a scoreless 10th, allowing one single and striking out one. He also hit a batter with the bases loaded.Jose Bautista also homered for the Blue Jays. The Blue Jays took a 2-0 lead in the fifth on the 11th home run of the season by Bautista, who jumped on the first pitch and drilled it to left.

Gordon Beckham clobbered a three-run homer as the Atlanta Braves hit back to eventually cruise past the Miami Marlins 7-2, a five-run second inning helped the Arizona Diamondbacks squeeze past the San Diego Padres 8-7, while the Minnesota Twins edged out the Seattle Mariners 6-5.

In the end, neither got the decision.

“That’s a good piece of hitting”, Kimbrel said. “When you fall behind to these hitters in a lineup like this, they make you pay for it”. After Devon Travis flew out to second, Darwin Barney hit a single to left.

David Price’s day came to an end, as tall righty Heath Hembree entered to face Bautista and Josh Donaldson. Ramirez drove a ball to left field that scored two more runs before he was thrown out at second base on a nice throw by Saunders. It is also the second-longest in the league this year behind teammate Jackie Bradley Jr., whose 29-game streak ended Thursday.

After Martin advanced to third on a wild pitch, Travis forced third baseman Travis Shaw to stretch to corral a shot, and though he tried to throw Travis out at first, his throw was dropped by Hanley Ramirez and Martin scored.

Shaw got to third in the top of the 10th with a single and two wild pitches by Jays closer Roberto Osuna, but was left there courtesy of a Josh Rutledge fly to centre.

“He’s a special player”, Gibbons said. “He can beat you so many ways – with the bat, with the glove, things like that”.

Jose Bautista hit a two-run homer for Toronto, which had won a season-high four straight.

“You cool off, that’s when you start really feeling it”, Ortiz said. Koji Uehara pitched the 11th to pick up the save.

Notes: Ortiz has 13 homers on the season. Down to just his underwear, the fan ran through an attempted tackle from one member of the security staff before finally being dragged down in right field and escorted away. Ramirez is now 10 for 21 with seven RBIs as a DH in 2016. The Red Sox ace responded by breezing through the next three frames, one base hit in the second inning and another in the fourth.

Red Sox: RHP Rick Porcello (7-2, 3.47) has had four consecutive quality starts vs. the AL East, but is 2-5 with a 7.15 ERA all-time in seven appearances at Rogers Centre.

Blue Jays: RHP Marcus Stroman (5-1, 3.89) is 4-0 with a 2.38 ERA in five career starts against Boston.
