Ecuador rescue point against Peru in Copa America thriller
Christian Cueva scored in the fifth minute and Edison Flores in the 13th, both assisted by Paolo Guerrero here on Wednesday. Haiti isn’t great offensively, so an Ecuador team that shutout Brazil, should be able to get the job done here and produce just enough to escape with the three points.

Peru made no changes to their squad that beat Haiti 1-0, but Ecuador coach Gustavo Quinteros elected to make one adjustment to his, bringing in goalkeeper Alexander Dominguez for Esteban Dreer.
Gabriel Achilier from Ecuador was sent off the field after receiving his second yellow card in the dying minutes.
With Peru and Brazil each sitting on four points and going head-to-head on the final matchday, that leaves Ecuador – who are on two points after their pair of draws – with a match against a Haiti side that Brazil just obliterated to the tune of a 7-1 pasting.
The aggressive forward from West Ham scored Ecuador’s first, about 6 minutes before the half, getting his squad back in the game and the tournament.
Peru and Ecuador fought to a 2-2 draw in their second Group B at the Copa America Centenario on Wednesday.
They take on Haiti on Sunday in East Rutherford. In the end, Ecuador will have to be happy with having erased a 2-0 first-half deficit to share the spoils with one match remaining in the group stage. Peru had a goal waived off after Guerrero was whistled for a foul and, in injury time, had a chance to break the tie as substitute Raul Ruidiaz fired barely wide left.
The experienced Alexandre, who plays in the second tier North American Soccer League for Fort Lauderdale Strikers, said he was particularly perturbed by the way the team fell apart later in the game.

Sadly for Cueva, Peru threw away a two-goal lead, meaning they’ll now most likely need something from their final group game against Brazil.
